    Unhappy I'm scared

Last week, I got pulled over for DWI. During my bail hearing, I was told since this is my 5th DWI I could go to jail for 99 years and I could have my parole revoked for my last DWI. This is scary because the last time I got a DWI, I just had to do nights in jail on the weekends for only a couple of months. My bail was set at $100,000.

I've thought about running, but I probably will NOT do that. My best friend put up the bond at the bail bond agency and I don't want to stiff him like that. But at the same time I don't want to go to jail for 99 years.

I'll be meeting with the DA soon I believe. I have been assigned a public defender, who pretty much tells me I'm fucked. Maybe the DA can cut me a deal? I think going to jail for 99 years just for drinking and driving 5 times is kind of Draconian. Heck, even the President and the Vice-President have done this.

    Any advice?

I'm just glad you never killed or injured anyone. Or did you and that is that why you're facing 99 years?

I will say this, if I was looking at 99 years I sure as heck wouldn't be relying on a public defender.
"Cheshire Puss," she began, rather timidly... "Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here?"
"That depends a good deal on where you want to get to," said the Cat.
"I don't much care where..." said Alice.
"Then it doesn't matter which way you go," said the Cat.

If I were you I would run as far as you can run. Screw your friend he doesn't need the money. And if you start feeling bad about it just drive to a bar and get drunk. :D

I have never killed or injured anyone. I live in Lubbock, TX BTW.

I would hire an attorney if I could afford one. My friend may spot me the money to get an attorney, but that's still up in the air.

Exactly what part of endangering the lives of my family members and your fellow citizens is rightful?

Don't worry just get a public defender I would be more than happy to pay for your lawyer with my tax dollars.

And I'm pretty sure that the President and Vice President have not been arrested for DUI 5 times...

The Vice President and the President got arrested for DWI 3 times collectively. And who knows how many other times they just bought their way out of trouble? I can't do that :(.

Well you didn't learn with your first 4 chances, it's probably time you learn there are consequences for your actions.

Edit: It is time you learn.

So, you got caught 4 times (did you drive drunk more times than you got caught?) and you didn't learn from that?

Now you got caught again and are looking at serious jail time?

Ever considered that it's your own fault, since nobody forced you to drive drunk? Or did you just assume you could do it and not get caught? Or was it a calculated risk? Were you banking on some more easy jail time?

Unlucky, suck it up and enjoy your time inside.

I've been to too many collisions involving drunk drivers to have much sympathy for you.
