Now, where did I put that soap box? Silly me, here is is. I figured I'd start a thread just for you. It wouldn't be fair to the others if I hijacked their thread to address you. So congratulations, I've made you famous.

I lied about things such as "Have you ever drove a car drunk?" I did drive a car drunk a couple of times a few years ago....

Son, no one claimed we're angels. But, we're honest about being not being angels. Frankly, I don't think angels would be good in this profession. We have to get down and dirty on occasions and step on a cockroach or two. We're more like "Angels with Dirty Faces if you will. Human beings are flawed by nature, some much more than others, take yourself for example. What I found disconcerting was with the glee you acknowledged your indiscretion. Wearing the lie like it was a badge of honor, while at the same time trying to become part of what is an honorable profession.

There are hundreds of thieves, alcoholics, drug addicts, people who can't climb over a 6ft wall, or a guardrail, etc. in the Dept now or trying to enter.

If they're already in the department (and I would like to know where you get your facts from, in regards to the HUNDREDS), I hope they're weeded out. I have friends amongst New York's finest and hate to think they're serving with these people, you put on a pedestal to justify your own indiscretion. If [B] HUNDREDS of thieves, alcoholics, drug addicts are indeed trying to get on with the department. I hope and pray NYPD hasn't sunk to such a low as to actually hire them.

I admit, I did lie. Lied about things I didn’t believe were important. Can you do the same?

It doesn't matter what you think is important. What is important are your candor, your integrity and your sense of honor. Personally, I think you're coming up a little short. Can I admit I lied? Yes, I've lied to many a criminal and the occasional female. Sure, I'll call you tomorrow. No honey, you do not look fat in those jeans. Have a lied to obtain a job, no sir, never had too.

NYPD investigators flagged many of the questionable recruits because of their arrest records or shady past. But after a review, police brass welcomed them to the ranks of the Finest.

Well if this is true, I feel sorry for the department, but more so for the citizenry. Hey, you could always call up the post and add your name to the list of F-ups who were hired. You'd be joining an esteemed group, within the NYPD. Makes me believe I should've gotten on with NYPD, just to be in such esteemed comapny. Your mom should be so proud. All I can say is, the the department will pay for it in a few years, when your fellow f-ups and yourself are brought up on various charges.

What you don't understand is, the brass can do what they want. Because they were to short-sighted and stupid to dismiss these people, doesn't mean you're on the same level as me, fellow officers or the guys waiting for their chance to be NYPD. You can try to justify it till the proverbial cows come home. There is NO justification for it.

It's not about being perfect it's about admitting when you screwed up but you learned a lesson. If you can't man up enough to have integrity and admit when you screwed up stuff you have no business being in this profession.

Thankfully liars are fired at a much higher rate than anyone else in this job so if you are lucky enough to get hired you will eventually fry your own butt.
