Well thought I would come back on here and give you all an update as to how I and Dan (liter-of-cola) are doing at the academy. All things are going good so far. We have just finished our 6th week there, and of course it was all class room stuff except for two days. Those two days was PT/DT and the other was doing building searches. So we are starting our 7th week this coming week and we start the fun stuff. I am not sure where Dan is starting but I get to do PT/DT , Handcuffing and doing my SFST this week. So it should be fun, and the time should start to fly by since we are finally getting out of the classroom. I shall keep you all posted.

Good job Chris......hopefully, you won't be too winded from playing Volleyball all the time out there when it comes to PT/DT..... :D

Na we watch the women play volleyball and that alone will wear a man out. The PT/DT instuctor we have though takes great pleasure in making us suffer. Loves to put us in positions that do not even look remotely possible to even put someone into. But in all seriousness this is an awesome job. I have found that the academy is hard but not really to hard. It's a lot more common sense than anything else for the most part. Fortunately our class so far has only lost four people and we are holding very strong with those four people. So for the most part we should graduate with 56 people on August 26,2005.

Well I am officially SFST certified. I past my the first test where you actually have to do the SFST and then I passed the written test with a 95%. So its not to bad. We go back to the academy in two weeks, because they are giving us the week of July 4th off. But when we go back I have my crime scene practicum, and the following week I am at the range. So it looks like we are going to have some fun for the next two weeks, and finally get out of the classroom.

It actually is pretty fun, just sucks that they have us going to police academy out in the middle of no where. I mean dang we are so far out in the sticks you can't even find a stick. But it is a lot of fun. Making new friends that are interested in the same things as I am. Although there are a few people there that I just can not stand. In my opinion they have absolutely no business in law enforcement, as well as they are the ones that give us good cops a bad name. Ok I am done venting

I know what you mean,,,you take your hiring and academy so serious and your like,,,"who the heck hire them,,,AND WHY?".

I do take it serious, some say to serious. The reason that I am taking it so serious is that we were told at the academy that in the KS area that roughly four out of every class are fired for a Failure to Engage reason. And I do not want to be one of them.

Where exactly in Kansas is your academy? I've got a cousin who lives in Elwood, KS. and just started the academy today. It's the academy that I went to though at Missouri Western in St. Joseph.

LOL! That is a great description. At least you don't have anything to distract you from your work. Reading textbooks has to be more interesting than watching the tumbleweeds roll by. Keep us posted!

Actually Kitty as far out as we are watching a tumble weed roll by would be more interesting than the last few weeks that we have had. But its part of life, gotta do the boring before you can do the fun stuff.
