A naked man who led Kenosha authorities on a chase that hit speeds of 120 mph into Racine County is expected in court today to face charges of lewd and lascivious behavior and driving while drunk.
The 56-year-old Milwaukee man also faces charges of speeding and knowingly fleeing authorities.
"We have no idea for a motive," Sgt. Horace Staples, public information officer of the Kenosha County Sheriff's Department, said. "I don't think he knows why he did it."
The chase began in Kenosha County and ended in Racine County after callers alerted authorities that they had seen a naked man in a car inappropriately touching himself in the parking lot of a retail store at about 1:30 a.m. Monday.
Authorities dispatched the Kenosha Police Department, but by the time they arrived, the suspect was gone.
His car was then spotted on I-94 by a Kenosha County Sheriff's deputy, who followed him north into Racine County.
The man exited I-94 at Highway 11 in Mount Pleasant and lost control of his car. It spun in two 360-degree turns into a grass ditch north of the ramp.
The man then drove out of the ditch and re-entered I-94, continuing northbound.
Authorities with the Kenosha County Sheriff's Department caught up with the vehicle after its engine failed and the car came to a stop one mile south of Highway 20.
When deputies reached the suspect to arrest him, they found he had managed to partially dress himself during the chase, Staples said.
Staples said the suspect had a few cuts and bruises but no serious injuries.
The man was treated and released at a hospital in Kenosha.
The suspect, who was being held in the Kenosha County Jail late Monday, has 13 prior convictions of lewd and lascivious behavior and also is a registered sex offender, according to court records.
No children were present during the incident, Staples said.
