May 14, 2005 4:45 PM
CLARKSBURG, W.Va.
You may see blue ribbons flying from West Virginia State Police cruisers this week.
National Police Week begins tomorrow, and honors the sacrifices made by officers and their families.
The national nonprofit organization Concerns of Police Survivors, or COPS, says that more than one-point-five million blue ribbons will be distributed nationwide this year.
According to COPS' Web site, 140 to 160 officers are killed on the job each year.
Tomorrow, flags of all federal, state and municipal government buildings are to be flown at half-staff for National Peace Officers Memorial Day.
