Everyone should ride a long with police.....

I recently completed an internship with a police department. Before I did the internship I felt cops were hard on people, had no sympathy and I myself doubted that I could become a cop because I felt sympathy towards people. But that has ALL changed after I did the internship.

Before I felt bad for the people who were speeding because they were "late for work" or the person who crahsed there car, hurt themselves, and recived a ticket. But now, after doing the ride alongs I have changed COMPLETELY.

I dont feel sorry for the speeder who gets smacked with a $100+ tickets for speeding because EVERYBODY has a damn excuse for it and I have heard them all.

The person who crashes their cars and gets a ticket(I mean the single car accidents) I also have no sympathy for because they are obviously driving with their heads in their a@@es.

Whats the point of my post? Not much, just expressing myself....but I just wish more people could expereince what I experienced and see how ridicouls 99% of the people you guys go to court because of really are.

Now I can't wait to get out there and bust these stupid people with no care in the world for anyone but themselves.

My two cents, thanks for reading and sorry for wasting your time.

"Yeah. There is a lot of "Monday morning quaterbacks""

I dont get how that makes me one? I would chalk it more up to actually experiencing police work.

After I stated what I just did, I am confused. Were you just making a general statement that people dont know what it is til they do it or that I am a "monday morning quaterback"? I guess what I mean is is that an insult or are you glad I actually experenced it and have learned?

Welcome to RP, and congrats for your intership. I am glad that your perception has changed. I noticed that when I had ride-a-longs that they usually left woth a better attitude towards the police.

The "quarterback" qoute wasn't aimed at you. I'm talking about the people that have no idea about the job and want to tell us how to do it from the comfortness of their Lazyboy recliner. ;)

You probably shouldn't mention things like "wanting to shoot yourself on slow days" around here. I never heard anyone in LE or who wanted to be in LE use that expression.

It's an expression used a lot...though I can see why it would be stupid to use that...but yeah point taken.

So true TX, I think it is the fact they they are not the ones getting smacked with the ticket, but they see why the person is getting the ticket. RAs are great learning experiences.

Speaking of RA, I gotta go! :D
