When you work a PI detail, do you call in to 911 and tell them where you are going to be in case someone calls in reporting a suspicious vehicle (which is you)? We have PI's that call us to tell us when and where they will be working their investigative details along with their vehicle description and plate #.... I would ask the PI's here if that is a rule, but I only know the one, and he is an *** (not because he's a PI, just by nature).
Thats OK, I'm an *** too, but I always answer.

I notify the appropriate LE agency, depending on the agency.

I know that with some departments it is a waste of time.

ME to 911 (I never call 911, but the non emergency dispatch #) "I am a Private Investigator and I will be conducting a surveillance in your jurisdiction. I will be in the 100 block of main street from 6 am until approximately 2 pm. I drive a blah blah, and my LP is Blah Blah. My cell phone number is 111-111-1111"

Dispatch-"OK, we'll let the officers know".

Once the officer came out after dispatch notified him, "to see what cool stuff I was doin". Thanks for making me obvious out here jackass.

Often a unit arrives on a suspicious vehicle call. When I tell the officer I called dispatch, they never received the info I called in to dispatch.

I have pretty much figured out wich agencies know what to do with the info.

Now I have read in different places that Dallas took big pay cuts, and many are disgruntled with the way the brass there works.

I have read more then a few posts in other places that were officers of dallas and extremely angry....along with more then a few threats that they intend on doing as little as possible from now on. I am sure this is not the case with all the officers.

I would love to hear from anyone that may work for the Dallas PD, and if this has effects on the moral.

Let me be clear on this. My ONLY problem is with the Dallas 911 Call takers.

Whenever I have actually dealt with a real officer I have had good results. They are professional, courteous and eager to work.

I have to go with tex. Everyone that I deal with has been outstanding. Now a few have said that the old desk guys been put back on patrol by the chief. Some have not been in patrol since thay had put mdt's in cars but thats all I have been told by off duty Police Officers that I work with. I have not meet one yet.
