How to calm my Mum down

Im 19 and am planning on joining the force come the end of this year. Ive completed all my studies etc and now have a few months to get my fitness to its absouloute best and brush up on a few sections of law. Ive been a security guard at banks and construction sites and so forth for the past year.
I was almost killed earlier this year when i was working alone at a construction site earlier this year. I was working midnight - 06:00 and at about 03:00 i was attacked by three middle aged men, one of which had a baseball bat. Long story short they knocked me unconsious and i was in hospital for a while with several fractures, concussion and obviosuly cuts and bruises. This hasnt been the only time ive been attacked at work but its been the most serious.
Now since i still live at home my Mum is worried sick about me joining the force scared of my safety and so forth. Their is no doubt this is what i want even with whats happened to me but how do i just calm her down. Has anyone else had a loved one who was worried and scared that you would get hurt or killed at work? What did you do?
    Cheers.

There is a big difference between becoming a police officer and a security guard. Perhaps this time you'll get some decent training and maybe even some backup ;)

No; I've never been in this type of situation.

 But I'm awfully sorry to hear what happened to you on that occasion  Are you healed up by now?? I too worry about you.
