Even liberal Oregon doesn't have a duty to retreat. However, you can get in a bind if you use lethal force to defend yourself against nonlethal force. For example, if someone threatens you with their fists and you shoot them, you better hope for a good jury. The exception is of course, if you are elderly and the would be assailent is young and strong, etc. But if there is equality, you're screwed.
Also, you can't defend property. If someone is breaking into your car and you shoot them, you'll be charged with murder. I've never had one of those cases personally, but I've seen them here.
