WE had a very good response from a PA state trooper in regards to his actions with a teen with autism. (I'll post that later) I wrote a letter to thank him and one to his commander. My question is, which is correct, to address him as Trooper _________ or Officer________
Does it matter?

I wouldn't be offended by either, but if you know he's a Trooper then it would be better if you addressed him that way. Either way he'll appreciate the letter.

In Pa. they are Troopers, not officers. So Trooper would be correct.
