Recently, a Kentucky State Trooper gave my daughter a little badge. She thinks it's the coolest thing and rarely goes a day without wearing it. She's just two but she knows what a police officer is because she knows I'm going to school so that I can be a state trooper. I think it's wonderful and very thoughtful of police officers to give children these badges. To a child, a police officer is nothing less than a super hero, like Superman, or Spiderman. Not only do these badges make a child's day, but it could possibly ease the negativity towards police officers. When I was 4, a trooper gave me a badge, and I still have it tucked away in a memory box. My parents nearly greived themselves to death when I announced two years ago that I was going to college to get a CJ degree so that I could be a state trooper. For some reason, they are convinced Cops are the crookedest people on earth. Maybe that little badge, and the trooper I met when I was 4, completely changed my outlook on Law Enforcement, and kept me from having a negative attitude toward officers like my parents do. Kudo's to the little badges and the police officers who distribute them!
