    some car got OWNED tonight.

Yeah, so in my new neighborhood of townhouses here in Pleasanton, CA I came downstairs at about 8:30 pm and noticed 3 squad cars outside. Townhouses often have places to park for friends/visitors or if you don't have enough room for all your vehicles in your garage. Basically, I noticed a older (probably made in the 80s) camaro or firebird parked out in a parking spot in our little court/square and a couple of cops going through it. I kinda walked around (I'm a very curious person) and walked pretty close to the sight, I noticed a few small bottles and things that were on top of the car that the cops had taken out of the car. Whoever's car it was was not around throughout the whole ordeal. There is an indian couple that lives across the way and I saw them talking with the cops, I over heard the man saying he had never noticed the car. I'm assuming he is the one that made the call. I did end up walking over to see what was up, but as I was walking up one of the cops told me to stay away from the sight. I went inside looking out the window occasionally. Basically they searched the car for at least a good hour to an hour and a half. Not too long ago I looked out and noticed the car being towed away. I wish I could have gotten details on what they found and who made the call and all that good stuff. I guess hopefully I'll get a chance to talk to the indian couple and find out.

Im sorry you might be a great person, but this just seems like "rubber necking" to me, Id be curious as hell if it happend in my apartment complex, but if I werent an LEO, and didnt have anything to do with the car, I'd probably keep my nose in my own buisness. Didnt mean to offend you if this post did it, just my opinion.

No offense taken. I'm not going to disagree with you. Like I said I'm too curious sometimes. I don't see much of this kind of action anyways, so that has some to do with it.

I don't mind rubberneckers too much as long as they don't get too close to my scene or they don't hinder traffic when driving by. It is soooo fu**ed up when a crash is on one side of the interstate and the opposite side is just as backed up for people slowing down to look. It drives me absoultey mad!!

Radio Shack. From $150 on up. They usually will include some frequencies for your area you can program into the scanner.

BTW...does Pleasanton have a volunteer program up there?

I was riding with an officer one day, and the officer was hooking up some kid. Another officer came by for assistance, and parked on the side of the road and put on her driectional lights directing drivers AROUND her car. Well, some lady is driving down the road, and slows down to about 15 miles per hour just staring at us... She SLAMMED into the back of the BIG BRIGHT FLASHING PATROLL car!

The car was light up brighter than a huge christmas tree, and she was so concerned with what the officers were doing, she ran into it.

    Heres your sign!

I'm really not sure. I haven't looked into it. What exactly is a volunteer program and what can one do if involved in one? Also, where abouts do you live in CA? Are you a PO?
