    Snow must cause stupidity

First things first, I hate snow. I hate working in the snow even worse. I think that snow just brings out stupid people, kind of like the cream rising to the surface. It never fails that every time it snows I meet some idiot that makes me believe that Darwin was wrong.

Tonight one my shift partners gets called to an accident where a pickup ran off a snowy road and hit a tree. There was already about 8 inches of snow on the road as it had not been plowed yet. The guy totaled his truck, a 2003 GMC Sierra. He really didn't have a good reason for being out, but it's not like marshal law had been declared. This just shows poor judgement for driving in the first place. It also showed he wasn't a particularly good driver, at least in the snow.

Well, the Trooper working the wreck strokes him ticket for RD and actually was nice enough to drive the man home. Should have been the end of the story...but it's not.

Two hours later I get a call to an accident on the same road. Guess who is there? The same jackass has now wrecked another truck in almost the same spot. He was going back to the scene of the first accident to take pictures for his court case on the previous accident. This time he runs off the road and slides his 2004 Chevy 1500 into a creek.

He had already proved he couldn't drive in the snow, now he just wanted to reaffirm his lack of driving skills. I was already mad because I had to put my chains on just to get to the accident. Then after I give him his second RD ticket of the day he actually asks me if I would drive him up the road so he could those pictures before it got dark.

I think that I would have killed him if the wrecker driver would not have been there as a witness.

Yes i agree snow brings out the job security. The sad part is i am told by soem people we pull out of their MVs that well i have a pickup truck or i have an SUV i thoguht i would be ok to drive the posted speed limit. Sigh, i have a pickup and i am not so incline to drive in nasty weather if i don't have a good reason. I have only done the donuts once in nasty weather , thank G-d for the driving classes i have taken, maybe that would solve the problem driving classes for people who get into the Darwins for their driving habits.

Reminds me of another case of stupididy.

It's a good story and I had to put in all the spaces to keep everyone on edge and make you have to wait to get to the good parts

A guy buys a very nice truck and pays cash. Goes out gets a DUI.

He's DUI and his truck is seized. I think it was a silver F-150 and very nice. I never did get a close look at them, but they are very nice.

(Do you think he'd learn his lesson)

Same person goes out and buys another truck just like it...

He gets popped a 2nd time for DUI. I think the time frame was with in a few weeks.

He paid cash for the 2nd truck also and it gets seized also. Both were seized by the same department.

The only good news of this whole event is that our counties Water Patrol Unit now has two very nice trucks C/O one stupid A$$.

It was told to me that part of the reason he bought the 2nd truck was to hide the fact that his 1st one got taken away.

An '03 and '04 GM fullsize, AND 2 F-150's? Shows that some people have more money than brains. I'd love anyone of those trucks, and I ain't a ford fan. ;)

We get ice storms here about once a year. The amount of carnage is amazing. Ever watch a 4x4 Tahoe play billiard ball for about 2200 feet? From one retaining wall to another?
I had to close a highway flyover during one couple of years ago, over 2 inches of ice on the roadway, you couldn't even walk up the access ramp. I lost count of the idiots impacting the barriers after 30 or so. I was thinking of buying into a body repair shop. :D
Don't try and outweird me, I find weirder things than you in my breakfast burrito.

I used to be a detailer in a bodyshop, and winter was the busiest time of the year.

There is something about precipitation falling from the sky that makes people jam their head up their *** and start driving around like idiots. Mayb its the pressure change, causes their peanut sized brains to shrink or something.

We don't get much snow in these here parts, but rain seems to be the equivalent. The asshats (I LOVE that word) in LA like to speed up when it rains, slow down to rubberneck at the accident that caused the traffic jam (or at the site where an accident occurred 2 weeks ago) and then go back to driving at friggin' lightspeed. Sorry...ranting...sick of the dang rain....

That was pretty good jarobins. I had to work daylight shift in the snow myself. 8 hours of driving in that was not fun but I was surprised at how well a CV does in the snow.
