    Knife problems...

I carry an automatic Kershaw knife on and off duty. Recently, the screws (2 total) on the belt clip attachment find themselves coming loose. Today, I get out of my car, and my belt clip falls from my SAP pocket to the ground. Both of the screws came all of the way out and caused the clip to fall off. I was only able to find one of the screws.

I use this knife daily, and do not want to send it off for replacement or repair as that may take weeks. I paid $180.00 for the knife, so maybe I should let Kershaw fix it, but I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem. I was thinking maybe JB Weld and some lock-tite might work.

What do you all think: glue it up, or should I just man up and be without it for a few weeks and run the risk of this same problem happening again in the future?

    Thanks for any input!

Benchmade will fix it for you. They guarantee their work. Take it back to where you got it, you don't have to have your receit(sp?) either (at least I didn't).

HNR, LMAO you thought a BM was a Kershaw! :D

What model BM? I don't remember a BM with only 2 pocket clip screws...

Btw, Angie at BM is da bomb.

Just out of curiosity, were you planning on gluing it back together again with only 1 screw? If you're really lucky, you might find another screw at a hardware store but you will probably have to cut it down. A lot of brands use 2-56 for pocket clip screws. Personally, I would advise against JB. Loctite low or medium should do fine.

Benchmade knives are my absolute favorite. Send the thing back in and have them fix it. I understand their customer service is excellent. They will also factory sharpen the knife while they have it for free...

I buy cheap knives. Normally the cheaper Gerbers. Use them for a while, then they disappear. Sort of like socks in the washing machine.

Somewere in this house there must be 30 knives:D

I'd freak if I lost a knife worth what some of these things are.

I carry an auto from Smith and Wesson. Bullet proof for only 49.00. Call a jewelery and get some new hardware. Benchmade would send it to you as well. Just keep it in a different place until you get new hardware. Glue will not hold up. This is the knife I want. (M.O.D. Harkins Triton)

NEVER EVER use glue to substitute for screw or weld. No matter how good the glue is, it'll fall apart when you need it the most (from personal experience).
