How to protect your credit ratings

I wanted to pass this bit of information out for those who have not heard of the new law that permits anyone to get a free credit report from each of the major credit reporting agencies once a year.

You can select one at a time and in essence be able to check your credit for problems, idenity theft or having mis-informaiton each quarter or just get all the reports at once.

It's being phased in by region and by the end of the year it will be in effect for the entire USA. I would recommend everyone take advantage of this and you my just be suprised of what information is not correct.

I got one recently and they had accounts that I had closed, still showing balances due and even old mortgages still showing as open.
