Sex Trafficking Task Force

Several months ago I watched a program which followed some sort of task force that investigated and busted organizations which traded/sold children for sex in foreign counties.

I do not remember any names or places mentioned, and due to the nature of the work, I'm a little hesitant to perform a web search for this. I would appreciate it if anyone could provide me with any information regarding these, or similar teams.

We come across sex slaves from time to time in illegal brothels. Although, they aren't children. Not that I've come across, anyway.

I work on a Cybercrimes/Sexual Exploitation of Children squad which investigates these types of crimes. I recently traveled to Nairobi, Kenya investigating such a case. We handle child pornography (receipt/possession/distribution and manufacturing) and several other crimes related to the Sexual Exploitation of Children Act (SECA) and PROTECT (Prosecuting Remedies and Tools Against the Exploitation of Children Today) Act of 2003. These crimes include:

Child Sex Tourism/Travelers
Inticement of Children for Sexual Acts
Child Trafficking for Sexual Purposes (Child Prostitution)

and a few other ambiguous ones

We work closely with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) and others in helping these children and putting the perpetrator's in jail.

It doesn't really work like that. Hopefully you already know about the merger between US Customs and Immigration and Naturalization Service into Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) under the Department of Homeland Security.

I am a legacy Customs agent from a small office, (14 agents before the merger). Being from a small office we did not really have the luxury of being in squads (we actually call them groups). So we worked a little bit of everything. That can be nice cause you get to work a variety of cases. Unfortunately you become a jack of all trades and a master of none.

After the merger, we grew in size to 35 agents and split out into groups specializing in certain types of cases. I expressed my interest in working cybercrimes and bam, my group supervisor puts me in. Three of us work cybercrimes (a squad inside of the group) exclusively with the help of another agent who is the computer forensics agent. He processes all of the computers that we seize. He processes computers for all types of cases, however, he processes more computers from our squad than any other squad or group in our office.

Anyway, just being an agent and expressing an interest got me into that group. I find the work very rewarding, although I have to see terrible, gut wrenching images as part of the job. Some people cannot handle it and don't want to work these types of cases because of it. It takes a strong stomach. Before becoming an agent, I worked violent crime on an Indian Reservation. I worked Murder, Assaults, Sex Abuse, etc. So I view the CP the same way I viewed a murder victim. Piece of evidence that has to be processed.

I really enjoy the long sentences these guys get though. I am currently in the legal process stage of two cases, one guy is looking at 120 months (10 years) on a plea and the other is looking at a mandatory minimum of 20 years. We may offer a plea for 15 - 20. The Judges usually go harsh.

Not to off the topic but, I know of a site that has people (Verified and known and trusted to do this) pose as young girls or boys in chat rooms and record convos of the men and women who prey on them in the chats.

They never START THE CHAT. the pervs come to them. They usually pose as a 14yr old girl. Then they have a forum and people can follow up with info and they usually end up calling his work and family. Some get flyers put up in their neighborhood. I think its great, but I guess it can ruin ones life when his Phone # and addy are put on the net.
