A family thought using a old bomb shell for a table leg would be ok. After all it had sat in thier back yard for over 50 yrs, in Europe.
All went well until they set down to dinner, then the shell exploded.
P.S. No one was killed.

A few years ago my Guard unit thought it would be great to bring back a TOW missile from the live fire range that had failed to lauch after the initial launch motor pushed it out the launch tube. It was a cement head...no HE warhead..so they picked it out of the ground, threw it in the back of a deuce and it rattled its way home , where it was hung on the wall of the club.
One day during an inspection, the inspectors noticed the missile with its unexpended payload basking itself on the club wall.......EOD got called RIGHT away, and it was pulled from the wall
Too bad..it looked great on the wall...never mind that the potential was there for it to go live and put its way through a cinder block wall or two....
