Someone lit a fire under my local department!!

When starting the process, I was told "3 to 6 months" from start to finish for the police recruit application process. It seems to be going a bit faster than that for me.

    1. Took the written test Monday, was given my results less than 20 minutes later. (87%, 70 required to pass, so that's pretty good).
    2. Oral board the following day - Tuesday. Given results again right away "Congrats - you have made it through thus far." I was then told that they would not be incontact for another 2 to 3 weeks.
    3. Went on a ride along the next day - Wed. During the ride, I got a call from a detective "We changed our mind on the 2 to 3 weeks, we want to see you ASAP for a background interview".
    4. Next day - Thurs - Had the 3 hour background interview. That was pretty much as expected (except for the question about animal sex - has anyone ever actually answered "yes" to this question?????). Also got finger printed.
    5. Today - Friday - Got a call and they set me up for my polygraph AND physical next Tuesday.

Someone is in a hurry to rope some new recruits, or so it looks. This is the department that I really want to get hired with also, so this is looking very good. It's just happening so fast. I'm just hanging on and running with it.

    Just wanted to share.
    -K

What dept. are you applying with, Kenders?

Congrats on getting through so quickly. Anyone know the average turnaround for an application with LAPD? (I.e., when should I start if I want to go to Academy around Aug. 2004?)

Were you given a conditional offer? If they set up a polygraph and physical, they had to do this. At least in my state, anyway.

    G'day Kenders,
Looks like things are moving quickly for you. I remember when I was being processed all those years ago and it was a real nail-biter. But your's is going along like an express train and it doesn't seem that it will be long before you join the `thin blue line' Good one! Regards from down under.
