    lying about being a cop

There is a guy at work that goes around telling everyone that he is a cop, he tells the kids and the staff this. In reality he is a reserve, I tell the kids this when they tell me about this. The kids told me today he flashes his reserve badge to them (making them think he is a cop) This really gets me angry do you think I should do something about it or am I making a bigger deal out of this.

    Cop?

Maybe find who his supervisor is and let tem know that this guy needs to cool his jets. Doing what he is doing could get him into a jam if someone takes him literally and he gives someone some bad info.

Wouldn't that be impresanation of a police officer?

In MN reserves do not recieve pay, do not have the training that full time police have and do not have any police power.

Sounds like someone needs to do some maturing. I only tell people I'm a cop when I'm about to get a ticket, want a discount, want to cut to the front of a line, or am trying to impress a badge bunny...

In TX, a reserve can only exercise their sworn duties when they are on duty.

Your coworker needs to do some serious maturing. Sounds like he has a clear case of "badgidice." What he doesn't realize that flashing one's badge can lead into some serious trouble depending upon the circumstances.

I think someone's advice is a good idea. That is, perhaps a phone call to this guy's supervisor might be the solution to the problem.

Have you talked to this kid about it also? I would definitely talk to him in addition to his supervisor. I don't think you are over-reacting at all.

I think he got the hint today, if my kids tell me he is doing it again I'll give his supervisor a call. I don't understand people like that, some of the kids here say that I'm a cop. As soon as that comes out of their mouths I say no I'm not. They ask me what the big deal is your going to be a cop, I always tell them their is a big difference between going to be and is one.

My grandmother tells some people that I am a cop. Then again, she has early stages of dementia and just can't remember anything specific. I correct her every time when we are alone, but don't want to embarrass her when we are talking to her friends (unless they make a big deal about it).
