Officer Beating a handcuffed black teenager?

yo i got this quote in the UKcops site and wonder this is true?

Due to the fact they were discussing people in Malaysia nowadays use to sniff cow dung, and my god how in the world as i live in Malaysia i actually missed out such news, and well it was published in the Australia newspaper but not in Malaysia at any circumstances, dont know why, have checked with the newspaper archieved library though

Was this the new news or the old one which i saw the news on MSN quite some time ago? Anyone?

    Quote:
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Videotape of a white Los Angeles police officer beating a handcuffed black teenager was shown across America yesterday, bringing accusations of racism and police brutality and straining already tense race relations in the city.

Los Angeles police beat the handcuffed teenager in a still from the videotape
The images of a white officer beating a black youth into apparent unconsciousness awakened memories of the notorious Rodney King beating that sparked riots in Los Angeles in 1992.

Here is another bit of information which may not have made the news so far away. Picture this:

After putting up quite a fight, the boy is bent over the hood of the car, his hands cuffed behind him. The officer is standing directly behind him. According to the officer's attorney, the boy reached back and squeezed the officer in an embarrassing location. This is when the officer hit him with his fist.

I think the boy's father was sitting in the front seat of the car while the son was resisting arrest and during the time he was across the hood of the car.

The officer has been suspended and is still awaiting trial.

I was using what my mother would have described as a "ladylike" description of what was reported on TV. :D I don't doubt that it hurt.

    Haven't heard anything new recently.

The judge for this officers case should read the report and then throw the case out.

A "fairly" similar case that happened here in Georgia was:

An Atlanta Officer pulled up on a black male who he suspected was was commiting some sort of crime, though he didn't know what. Anyways, when he tried to apprehend(sp) the subject the black male got into his SUV and tried to RUN OVER the officer, the officer then shot and killed the subject.

This officer got in trouble for that. They also didn't tell you on TV that the black male had a ton of stolen electronics in the back of his SUV!

Just thought I'd share that .

The worst thing about all of this stuff is the majority of the public get all their 'unbiased' information from the media. And we all know how much of a favorable opinion our media friends have of cops don't we? It's often quite frightening----trial by media before there's even a trial!

These days in the US, particularly if you happen to be a W/M cop involved in some sort of critical incident and the other person is a different race, there seems to be a growing witch hunt-like atmosphere of these situations. i.e.: W/M cop beat, shot, killed the other person with no justification even though said cop was about to get killed by the other misguided individual.

Without a doubt, if a cop, ANY COP, does something illegal and the FACTS in conjunction with the TOTALITY OF THE CIRCUMSTANCES prove this beyond a reasonable doubt, then the cop has what's coming to them.

Unfortunately, in reference to this discussion, I think the media often fabricates and makes up things as they go along without, seemingly, any accountability or responsibility.

    RE:
You can't just go into court and say "He looked like he was doing something illegal ". You have to have proof and probable cause.
From the Texas Code of Criminal Procedure:

Art. 14.03. Authority of peace officers.

    (a) Any peace officer may arrest, without warrant:

    (1) persons found in suspicious places and under circumstances which reasonably
show that such persons have been guilty of some felony, violation of Title 9, Chapter
42, Penal Code, breach of the peace, or offense under Section 49.02, Penal Code, or
    threaten, or are about to commit some offense against the laws;

Notice that a Peace officer may arrest without warrant, Persons found in suspicious places and under circumstances which reasonably show that such persons threaten, or are about to committ some offense against the laws.

There is no requirement of Probable Cause (PC) here, just reasonablness, a much lesser requirement than PC.

Best of all they reveal (the media) all important information like the tarrot card and well those are something that make people get interested about the case and eventually it was not suppose to be reveal until the PD say so. And i dont know why, publicity is so powerful

    Yo Stuohn,

Hi! I think you are mistaken, as well, i always put those people involved and think that what if it happens to my kids or myself!

But then the thing is that, you don't really know what is actually happening, this whole thing might be made up just to raise the anger of the police officer and yet he attacked the boy while another person is taping the whole situation.

Like my mom always "You are not wearing my shoe, you don't know what and how i feel, you have no right to judge a person at all"

I am not saying who is correct and who is wrong, just that i dont think it's fair just to judge a person by watching a movie clip and so that's all!

    And Have a nice day!
