    New Boots

Hey, been a while since i've posted, but now I have a serious question.

I recently purchased the Bates ultra-lite enforcer boots and am trying my hardest to give the toe area a nice shine, like what you find on military combat boots. I have tried everything, and been at it for well over two hours using kiwi-wax. I have even taken an iron and heated up the tip of the boot to open the pores so the wax will "fill up" and give it a shine.

Does anyone know if these boots will shine or were they not meant for that?

    Thanks in advance,

    Justin

I'm having the same problem with some new steel toe capped stealth magnums (5268). Got the shine going, but then it seems to just stop and go all flakey and powdery.

They should, I never had a pair of Bates, but I knew guys that did and they wouldn't buy them if you couldn't shine them. Try applying a light coat of polish, buffing them out, then apply another light coat, let it dry, and rub it in real hard with a clean, damp rag

The problem is the boot material. A true military shine is usually only possible with real leather. Tactical boots are usually synthetic or a synth/real leather blend rather than true hyde.

Tactical boots will NEVER be as shiny as mil-spec leather dress boots.

so basically i just need to let them stay the way they are and they won't shine anymore? they are made of "leather and nylon"....but who knows??? I'll just ask around later at work. I appreciate all of your input, I may end up just buying some with the ability to shine.

Stay with tactical boots. The soles are more suited to LE.

They will shine, and shine well to a degree, they just won't hold a shine like 100% leather.

Yeah, toes get messed up pretty quickly even on tactical boots.
