    Mini Choppers

Have you seen these things? They are like mini bikes made to look like a chopper style motorcycle. They have electric motors or 43cc gas engines. I'm not sure how fast the electric one go, but they cost around $200. The gas ones go about 15mph and cost around $300 new.

Well, this family down the street has five kids. And they all have one.... The oldest of these kids is about the 13, the youngest being 7. Every Saturday and Sunday, you can count on these kids going up and down, up and down, and up and down the street again. The exhausts are SOOO LOUD it isn't even funny. And they have loud annoying horns that they feel the need to beep constantly. I can understand how something like that could be fun, but they never stop!

They have been so close to being run over and causing accidents so many times. And you can only imagine how annoying they are. They started about the beginning on June and have done ALL DAY long, every weekend all summer, and continue to. All of the neighbors are getting fed up with it. The town police chief was sitting in front of our house one day talking to my dad (my dad was telling him annoying they are) when they started up. They went for about half an hour before Wayne decided to tell them to take them home. He then went over and talked to their parents, he told them that if they are seen on the street again, they will be confiscated. Well, they've been seen again.

Just about every weekend the cops were called, but to no avail. One cop sat there looked them over, telling the kids how cool they were and asking where they got them before telling them to be careful. The other have just told them to go home, just to see them come back out two hours later.

The point is, no one seems to care how dangerous and annoying they are...except the people that have to live near them. The worst part of it is, there is a huge abandoned parking just up the road, AWAY from any houses. All of the neighbors have suggested they take them there, but they refuse.

    What would you do?

Sounds like there isnt alot you can do since the local police know of the problem. Sounds like a small town but that just a guess. Maybe you could notify the State Police or Highway Patrol ( whichever one you have ) and see if they can help.

Take the kids home and talk to the parents, in PA , a motorized ANYTHING on the road ( with a few exceptions) must have a license plate , insurance, and the driver must have a drivers license.

2nd time, impound the cycle, and cite the PARENTS for permitting violation of title for EACH vio. Mabe cite the kids depending on the age.

Yeah, I read that in the go cart thread. That's what made me think them. You need to come be a cop in Culver! The only ones here who have balls enough to ticket anyone for anything works night shift. Mind you there are only four full time officers here (and about 9 part timers). But they could at least give them ONE ticket for SOMETHING, if not for anything else, just to keep them off the road for a feew weeks to give us some peace and quiet.

I made the mistake of telling them that I was going to call the cops if the didnt put them away for the day on the 4th of July weekend. Every firework we lit, they all stood out in their yard and screamed "WE'RE CALLING THE COPS!!!". Oh boy, if you wanna see something that makes me mad......

Here if you give a child permission to ride anything in the road including a bike you are at fault and can be given a ticket.

Oh sorry missed that. In that case I would take them home and speak with the parents. Second time they would be confiscated and parents cited for allowing the operation of a uninsured vehicle.

I think they are cool...but that is just me. I would still rather waste the money ont he real thing. I have seen them, and they could be a nuissance (sp) and in my opinion more dangerous than the real thing, but hey, what are ya gonna do. There are plenty of places near me to actually ride them so...

I really don't want them CONFISCATED, they are kids after all. But like I said, they are soo annoying. Remember from Dumb & Dumber, "the most annoying sound in the world" that Jim Carrey does? Well take that and add in a "MEEP MEEP" for the horns and that's what you have, mini choppers. ALL DAY LONG. Now you see why I complain!

And yeah, they are pretty cool....for a day.

They may be neat until one of them runs into your car and of course there is no insurance or you run into one of them on the road. We also have an ordinance that prohibits riding of ATV's , minibikes etc within 500 ft of another persons house, even if you are on your own property.

Well, you always could put sugar or sawdust in the gas tank, or cross the wires on the electrical ones. But hey, we're all law abbing though, right? :p
