    Seatbelts DO save lives.

So this post is to the Safe & Sober program (and to everyone). I am currently wanting to become a police officer, but before I have made this decision I have always had a great habit from when I was born, that is putting on a seat belt when driving in a car, and that same habit payed off to my friends.

Well 4 friends were involved in a truck roll over 1 year ago, and all of them were wearing seatbelts and are in great shape now, no deaths, thanks to seatbelts, the wierd thing about it was that after that accident is that all of them are given a monthly CAT scan, and one of my friends was diagnosed with a non-cancerous tumor (which I think that was a sign of why that rollover accured)

And today my friends brother ("my friend" was one of the four friends in last years roll over) was involved in a rollover with 3 other poeple. All were wearing seatbelts and all have no injuries.

Now this has just given me an extra push, to tell friends, family and other people to BUCKEL UP!!! Taking 2 seconds out of your life can save it!!! Well I am a police explorer, so people would think just because I am a police explorer is why I am telling them to buckel up, but what I would say is that I love them enough not to see them in a cofin, then they wouldn't say anything else.

So I think that there SHOULD be a law in my state Minnesota, that everyone occuping a motorised vehicle should be buckeled up and can be stopped with out a moving violation. And be given a citation, hey $20-$50 is nothing compared to your life.

So I am even more wanting to become a police officer, and hopefully saving a life someday, now that is why police officers, fire fighter's, and EMT's should be bookmarked Heros.

IN my state, helmets are now an option for 21 and up riders but seatbelts are still required. I have yet to unbuckle a dead person at a crash scene but I have seen too many who died from being smashed against the A pillar.

This stories and the fact that I know how I drive is what gets me to buckle up in my truck.

You know I really support the use of seatbelts. Even on ride's I buckle up. But do you guys ever notice how weird it is to be wearing a vest and a seatbelt. Just feels diffrent. (like everything does when your wearing a vest !) I think the only time I have forgoten to imediatly put on my seatbelt must have been when i was talking on a cellpohne. Kinda made me think you know? ever since then my cell phone stays in my center consoule on silent so ..as they say see no evil hear no evil

Click It or TICKET is a great tool that is put to use only 2 times a year in my county. They should enforce more of it when they see it and have time. But then again we are talking about my area locals.

Last month there was a section in Muskegon that was a "safety belt" enforcement zone.
Officers of several different departments positioned at the begining and end of this area that were stopping ppl and giving them tickets for not wearing thier safety belts.

First time I had ever seen anything like it, sort of a road block kind of thing.
At the time I went through there were five different cars pulled over getting tickets in different spots.

Good thing I always wear my belt.
Not because it is a law, I wore mine long before I was old enough to drive.
Courtsy of a film I watched as a freshman in high school.
It showed, using crash dummies of course, what happened to ppl in a crash when not using safety belts.......never forgot it.

oregon requires seat belts & helmets too. I was taught as a kid to put a seat belt on soon as I got in the car.

OH this is my favorite topic. Our 911 knew me by name when I would call in folks not having their seatbelts strapped on their kids or the kids/babies not in a car seat. Another fellow respiratory therapist would call in too. We wore out the 911!!!! But it worked!

I would roll my eyes when I would hear them answer: "911 can I help you, Miss Amy?"....you could hear them snickering in the background!LOL....but I did get several folks pulled over and ticketed. The best one yet was a 3 month old baby that a man was driving down the interstate, just propped up on his shoulder....going 70 mph?????

    Geez ppl are stupid.

Why is it that when you transport something by car it is called shipment, but when you transport something by ship it's called cargo?

I was in a wreck where the seatbelts failed and I had some hip injury from it too. Needless to say, I sure was glad I was a girl and already have a high pitched voice!LOL  It was a Nissan Maxima that had those damn attacking seatbelts in them...1992??

Now in South GA, you will see a lot of truck drivers forgoing the seatbelts (cause they work on farms and such, but when they are in town they don't wear them there either.) I drove an H2 (a tank) and I wore my seatbelts on and off road.
