Same in TN. July 2004 just made it a primary law for seatbelt use. Before we were not able to initiate a traffic stop just on a seatbelt violation (for adult). Now we can. ;)

Why is it that when you transport something by car it is called shipment, but when you transport something by ship it's called cargo?

My cousin and some friends was in a wreck, none had their seat belts on they was all thrown from the car, all lived , inside the car was about 20 fence posts jammed through the windshield everywhere, if they had them on they would have all died. Here it's click it or ticket, I wear mine out of habit doesnt matter if I'm going a block away, my mom on the other hand refuses to wear hers :( NO matter how hard I preach to her she says its her life that goes, not mine, or " I know this road ". She neglects to think of someone could be broke down around the curve in the middle of the road. Sometimes drivin on the highway I feel like strappin it on her an tapin her mouth shut.
Also a wreck a few months ago here cut a girl in half because the seat belt severed her at the waste, if she had not been wearing it, she also would have lived. I think to a extent seatbelts are a win/lose thing, some they dont help, and some they do.

you know I REALLY need to get one of those cutters for belts that you keep in the car. My dad was in a wreck a few years ago and landed in a ditch (someone hit him)...and the seatbelt wouldn't come off (jammed)...then the car caught on fire! LOL!!! He got out bc he had a knife in his pocket. sheesh not a situation I would wanna be in!

    Scott,

Man I thought georgia was bad about being stuck in the dark ages. Tennessee must be one of the last states to pass the mandatory seatbelt law.

This makes your state worse then the bumkins in Georgia :D. j/k

Whoa whoa whoa!!!! Slow down speedy. Georgia can go toe-to-toe with Michigan in any dept! We've got the country and the city. Not to mention better sports than you guys!

    Braves>tigers
    Falcons>lions
    hawks<Pistons
    thrashers<Redwings

I guess we're even in sports, but we're all safe here and wear our seatbelts. Every metro ATL county runs in the high 90's in seatbelt use.

Don't bag on GA! We've got peaches!

Hold on there one second. I was kidding BTW. Also U of M is better then the bulldogs at all sports. Look at it stat wise. What state are the Pistons in?????? Search for my article that puts Michigan with the highest seatbelt usage of any other state at over 90%. Atlanta can have 90% but our state has that and more.

I refuse to go anywhere until my riders are buckled in. It's not a bad habit to have. Thx for the thread.
