As do we.....One night our two constables told us all the things that they get paid for...... now we call then for all our prisioner transports to the county jail so all we have to do is go to night court and sign our charges with the judge. I give them all my warrants for the week prior to having to NEI them....works out great, I like throwing work their way.

We have our constables programmed into our departmental Nextels, don't even have to go through county control to get them.

We got a guy with 15 warrants the other night, the constable was smiling from ear to ear. They do us a great service by taking people off of our hands so we don't get tied up with them.

This is the kind of cooperation we can all benefit from, I wish every PD would operate this way so that Constables can make a decent living and Patrolmen could spend more time on the street, my county is large but the population is small so there's not much work to go around and the DJ's only give work to a select few, I wish our County had a more organized and efficient system for Constables like York County.

I deal with almost 2 constables exclusively. The one is full time and the other is part time but he is available the second ( 1530 hrs) he gets off of work. I have a few other back-ups but the ones who are reliable get my call.

On top of that , if I serve a warrant, I can't cause any service fees on the bad guy. Constables get paid a flat fee plus mileage for every warrant and the bad guy has to pay them. I believe that the standard arrest and return warrant is good for about $25 extra in constable costs.

As of now, the warrant is $15. Return of service is 2.50, custody of the person is $5, mileage is the IRS rate (48.5 cents per mile), $5 for convey to MDJ, $5 for convey from MDJ, $10 pre hour for custody - that's AFTER the first half hour...
I think thats about all we NORMALLY charge, unless we have to take them to a hearing or for fingerprinting.

On an average, I'd say the first warrant is about $50-55 with each additional warrant we are only able to charge $15 for the warrant and $2.50 for return of service.
