Here in MN, we are doing okay for now. We have went away from the Crown Vic's and started purchasing several Chev tahoes per year. They are not the "police" perception but the comfort and the maintenance factors are huge.

Talk about the new 300C being dubbed a squad car..and it is fairly reasonable for price...in the mid 20's!

All our crown vics are being replaced with Impalas. Seems that Chevy is winning most of the bids here in TN. ;)

i didn't realize who the was chief at first, but i spoke to him today on the phone. apparently the last chief there i'd met has been fired. he agrees with me about the whole ****hole thing. i forwarded him to the person to talk to about getting hired on with us. poor guy.

we have '02s as backup cars so if hired, he'll be plenty good on cars then.

Can the department join with others to consolidate an order to reduce the price? Our county does some joint purchasing with a few other counties to reduce costs. Just a thought.

we do a state bid. the state takes bids on just about anything you could ever want; cars, lightbars, radar guns, office chairs, pencils, you name it. you can buy this stuff at the state bid price which is essentially the lowest bidder.
