I go in for roll call and they tell me I get to go out by myself and my FTO will shadow me. I was ready for this but I was still a lil nervous about it. It was fairly quiet especially for a 4p-12a shift. I pulled over about 6 cars. I had one good stop. I was in a 25 mph industrial zone operating moving RADAR when a car zips past me in the opposite direction going 42. I turn on it as quick as I could but she was out of sight. I make a turn hoping she went that way and spot her going another way. Dang! I zigged when I should have zagged. But no problem because she was going down a dead end with nothing but a factory building there. So I head down there and she's sitting in a parking lot. I radio in and give location and get out and talk to her. I asked her how fast she was going and she said 40 or 45. She said she didn't know what the speed limit was. I then asked her why she didn't slow down when she passed me and she said that if she hit her brakes then that would show guilt. LOL I said no my RADAR proved that.
She didn't have her license with her and said it was at home in her purse. (red flag) SO I get SS number and run her info. She came back suspended! Woohooooo Suspended at 18 years old. Unfortunately her suspended notification wasn't verified so couldn't write her for driving suspended but wrote her for speeding and gave her a written suspension notice. SO next time I see her I can write her for driving suspended and tow her car. She won't be hard to miss because she has pink hair and drives a teal Chevy.
My first night solo went pretty good.
