    Interviewed by former agent

Today I had my welcome aboard interview with the federal agency that I will be interning at for 15 hrs a week this coming semester. This "welcome aboard" interview was not all that welcoming however. It was the third and final one and I will be beginning next Wed. This guy was the most intimidating person they could find to talk to me. He is the director of the facility that I will be working at, but I would never want to do anything wrong during his watch. His gaze could kill people!!! I was very confident throughout the entire interview, was mindful to speak clearly, didn't fidget with the fingers, eliminated all "yea's" from my speech, and drastically reduced the quantity of ums. After going through the 1 hr "conversation" I felt very relieved to walk out of the room in one piece. He is a retired special agent who had some brass in the FBI. I have talked face to face with 3 special agents in the FBI in a business setting, but the other 2 did not have his interviewing abilities. If I had done anything wrong and I was in an interrogation, he could look at me for a min and I would be willing to release any information that I had on illegal activities he was that intimidating. I just didn't know if some agents receive specialized training in this skill, or if this man was lucky enough to have this trait naturally. He spoke with so much grace and confidence as well as the look. It was really neat to experience, and I hope one day I too could be that intimidating if ever needed to be.

It comes with time. After years of seeing the absolute worst things in life,it comes naturally. One thing I have noticed over the years in LE is there aren't really any middle aged officers. In years they may be middle aged, but only the rookies look young. Everybody else looks old, most before their time. At least the ones who work in agencies with a high call volume. If you look close, the eyes are always the worst. It is a very haunted look.
Lead me not into temptation.......someone talks me into enough sh!t as it is. .

Sounds like you passed the final test. Good for you for hanging in there & I'm sure this guy was all part of the interviewing process. Don't worry about that guy...I'm guessing he turned up the heat for the "new recruit." And good luck to ya...
