Lie Until They Believe You (Rant antics)

Ok, so I stop this 03 Malibu yesterday for failure to display two plates. I run the plate prior to going up and its expired for Jan 03 with 2005 tab on it and it's registered to a 96 Saturn. Par for the course where I work.

I contact the driver, intro myself and tell her the reason I pulled her over. She tells me that other plate is in the trunk. I ask for some paperwork on the car and she has none. I asked her when she bought it and she does the old "Gimme a sec while I think up a lie" and then tells me "I bought it in July."

    Ok.

So I ask her for her insurance and license and she gives me an expired insurance card with coverage dates from 04/19/2002 to 04/19/2003. Guess what the insured vehicle is? Bingo, VIN matches up and everything. I confront her about it and she says that policy was for another vehicle. So I said, "You mean you insured a car for over a year before you even bought it? Ma'am do I look like I started this job yesterday?"
    "Um well, uh, ....uhh...uh...."
"Ok, I am done talking with you." So I go back and scratch her off the last three tickets I had for the book. And that was only half of what I could have gotten her for. I don't usually stack but I was going to make an exception for this dingdong.
Gave her the tickets and she asked me if she could bring an attorney to court and said "yes, I think you should." She still maintained that she bought the car in July 2004. When I asked her where she got the 2005 year tab she got real quiet. Uhhuh, got the local crackhead to steal for you.

I despise people that will not come clean even when you got them coming and going.

Probably been lying to the police all her life and wasn't going to stop. This may come as a shock but there are certain segments of our society who encourage their children to lie to the police at every encounter.

I have arrested so many people for having an expiration sticker on a license plate that the sticker didn't belong on there. We also get alot of counterfeit insurance cards in my area, where we arrest them for that also.

There is so many here you would do nothing but lock people up all day. I just write them and scrape them off if they don't come back stolen.

The folks here have gotten real slick. They took advantage of a situation where they were getting their tabs stolen and were reporting them. Well, we have so many we don't even respond to their house to take the report. We just give them the number to report them by phone. People got wise to this, and started making false reports of their tabs being stolen. So they just get an new set for their family, friends, play cousins, whatever.

Its out of hand and since our department of revenue system does not keep track of who is assigned what tab number its really gone nuts. I run them all the time for a stolen and have not gotten one in about 14 months. Now the crackheads have to steal something else and sell it.

Towing the vehicle would have been nice (for being unregistered among a few things).

I hit a car with fake tags today on the way back from court. Same deal. Saw three people fishing. Figured I'd write a few fishing license tickets because my boss loves those. I approach them, and they say that their licenses are in their car. we go over to their car and it's got an expired temp tag on it that doesn't match up to the registration they have for the car. Guy admits that he works at the dealership and got the tag there when his original one expired.
So I take the tag and they wind up having their car towed back to the tow lot because between them they can't come up with the tow bill.

At least their fishing licenses were valid.
*batting eyelashes* I liiiiiiike you! I like anyone who makes ppl take responsibility for things they should be doing anyway. That's the way I wish more ppl would be. If you keep letting them get away w/ this stuff, they'll keep doing it & it may escalate.
