Lie Until They Believe You (Rant antics)
Ok, so I stop this 03 Malibu yesterday for failure to display two plates. I run the plate prior to going up and its expired for Jan 03 with 2005 tab on it and it's registered to a 96 Saturn. Par for the course where I work.
I contact the driver, intro myself and tell her the reason I pulled her over. She tells me that other plate is in the trunk. I ask for some paperwork on the car and she has none. I asked her when she bought it and she does the old "Gimme a sec while I think up a lie" and then tells me "I bought it in July."
Ok.
So I ask her for her insurance and license and she gives me an expired insurance card with coverage dates from 04/19/2002 to 04/19/2003. Guess what the insured vehicle is? Bingo, VIN matches up and everything. I confront her about it and she says that policy was for another vehicle. So I said, "You mean you insured a car for over a year before you even bought it? Ma'am do I look like I started this job yesterday?"
"Um well, uh, ....uhh...uh...."
"Ok, I am done talking with you." So I go back and scratch her off the last three tickets I had for the book. And that was only half of what I could have gotten her for. I don't usually stack but I was going to make an exception for this dingdong.
Gave her the tickets and she asked me if she could bring an attorney to court and said "yes, I think you should." She still maintained that she bought the car in July 2004. When I asked her where she got the 2005 year tab she got real quiet. Uhhuh, got the local crackhead to steal for you.
I despise people that will not come clean even when you got them coming and going.
You know the difference between a job and a duty? A job you can refuse to do because it's dangerous; a duty you must do even if it is dangerous.
