In most states, the hand-held AlcoSensor (sp?) is not admissable. This new product is merely another tool to measure impairment, without the limitation of just measuring alcohol.

Still not sure what you mean by "Real" evidence.

By real evidence, I mean something you can take to court.

Ah! Okay! In that regard, I think this device would probably end up in the same catagory as the hand-held alcohol sensor thingy. Not admissable in court. It would be just one of the tools to be used in conjunction with FST to assist the officer in determining if he has reasonable enough suspicion to take it to the next level (i.e. Arrest, Blood-Test, Breathalyzer).

I agree with Shag. There are some departments around that use the breath sensor, but it is only to help with probable cause/reasonable suspicion to conduct more testing. As a DUI officer, I don't think the SFST's are that time consuming. We can do them, have a BAT officer arrive, and probably be back on the street in under 2 hrs.

I know alot of departments are always undermanned, but taking a drunk driver off the street is worth consuming the time. In most cases, you're at least probably saving the life of the driver, if not the lives of others he/she may have killed if you had not stopped them. ;)
