Hi, I'm new to your message board and hope you don't mind what I printed from a website. I hope you can answer the following question or maybe have some insight or the means to verify this new technology.

I was wondering if any of you have ever heard of these coasters and if they truly worked?

I just happened to run across this site the other day and was hoping it worked. It might be a partial solution to preventing drug induced rape or at least give some of us a chance to call for help before its to late.

From my understanding the inventor of these coaster had a close female friend that was given a drink laced with a drug. So the friend of this female decided to design these coaster that he hopes to sell to bars in order to prevent others from drinking drinks laced with drugs.

I have never heard of this, but I will give my opinion.


I think that the only "drink safe technology" out there is the person himself. If you are adult enough to go out and drink then you should be adult enough to know when enough is enough. Im not advocating crime here but when you allow yourself into a situation that may become dangerous (and could have been avoided) then the results often times become disasterous. The only true defense a person possess is themselves. If you allow yourself to become intoxicated to the point where rational thinking has floated off to la-la land, then you really have no way of defending yourself against an attack. Just my opinion.

And guys, please don't think that I am miss holier than thou, never does anything wrong, blah ..blah..blah. I go out. I like to drink beer. I like to have a good time with my friends. I do not, however, put myself into situations than can be avoided.

I think that it sounds like a good idea, but will more than likley never work. There are not that many people who are going to whip out a testing kit and throw some strip into their drink at a bar. But, I must also say that I agree full heartedly with Ms. "Holier than all":D in the fact that most of these situations could and can be avoided. Understanding your limits is the first step towards keeping yourself safe when you drink. Also drinking with friends when you go out, so that if anything happens, you have people there that are going to help you.

You know what I think they should come up with though...? There has to be a way in which it would be mandatory for the bar tender to put one drop of some chemical that is not effect allergies or is not harmful. Kind of like chlorine in the pool... You know when you were a little kid and if you peed in the pool it turned blue. The same time of thing can apply to drinks. I don't know how they can do it, but I am sure that they could find a way. That way if anyone was to put any kind of chemical in your drink, it would turn the color of the drink another color...I don't know but deff. something more vibrant...a hot pink mabye. Anyways, thats just what I think, but I don't know about the feasability of it all.

Ok, now we're on a subject that I have EXTENSIVE knowledge about --- drinking!!! ;)
Anyway, I have heard of these strips. I would love to know how much it costs - to see if people would take advantage of it. I also wish they were reusable - if the tests are negative for drugs. That way, bars could have them accessible to people (you know, kind of like the breathalizer machines they have set up some places).
Byu, I understand what you are saying, but when you put your beer on the bar to take your turn at pool/darts, go to the bathroom, get up and dance, etc, you are leaving your drink out of eyesight or just out of your reach. Nobody can say they watch their drink 100 % of the time. I know when I am drinking, I tend to look at people's faces when I am talking, so anyone could come along and slip something in there...
I agree with abirtz in that you should have a designated buddy. Everytime I go out with girlfriends, we have a agreement that we watch out for each other. If one is getting drunk, the other(s) will make sure she doesn't do anything silly/dangerous. Sometimes it happens that someone gets drunk, but we watch out for each other.
Oh, and abirtz -- I have never peed in a pool, so I have no idea what color the water turns... :D hee hee hee

I think the best way to avoid having your drink drugged, is to never leave it sit unattended. If you go to the bathroom, or go dance, take your drink with you!

That would be a good idea CopsAholic. but most places do not allow you to bring drinks into the bathroom area. Buts that's just where I'm from. Oh, and Stump, you know you have eveyone has at one point or another

Ok Stump......I agree...to an extint. I am not from a big city though and every bar that I have ever been into allows your drink whereever you go. Bottled beer is outlawed so we don't have a big problem with broken glass on the dance floor and stuff like that. I still would never leave my drink unattended under any circumstances.

In my original post I asked if you have ever heard of them or tested or verified these coasters or test strips.

Well I just happened to catch the ending on the news the other night and these test strips and coasters were tested. I missed the beginning and only saw the last few seconds of the results.

The coasters and strips were not able to indicate that a drink was tainted with the drug GHB. If anyone saw the news a couple of nights ago and would care to elaborate on the results please do so. I missed part of it.

I would like to thank those who decided to test this product to determine if it worked or not. THANK YOU!

Ok this is an interesting topic in the eastern country here, ahahahha i dont know whether you'll believe it or not. But i am just telling the truth and the fact.

There's alot of Monks in Thailand, as you'll know, some do bad things and most of them do good stuff like helping to cured those bad curst and people that had been charmed. Ok regarding about discos and so on, i never heard about those drink safe technology as here always implement stuff very very late, people ahd been using DSL technology and malaysia just recent implemented it, yeah.... ahahha before this they we charging 56k telephone line for 3 cents a minute to go online.

Cut those crab off, and how continue to the topic, those people who indeed to do bad things will definitely gonna drop some stuff in your drink and when you are not aware of it.

As i always tell my sis (due to the fact i dont like to go disco's but my sis like it), dont go dancing or what so ever in a disco leaving your drink, and if you are back dont drink those and ordered another new one. For safety precaution.

And there's anothing voodoo stuff. they tends to drop some potion into your drink and after you drink it you will be like following his order and command, it's not estacy so people cannot actually notice the difference, just that after you drink you might follow the person to somewhere and you wont know it, and it's very bad as you cannot undo the spell without a powerful monk, normal people cannot do that, but then there's a symptoms about it.

Normally, those who uses voodoo potion, when they drop the potion into your drink, your cup will react funny, like the water suppose to be cold, but it turn to normal temperature in just all of a sudden and so. or vice versa.

There's another case where, ok in thailand there's a water festivals, where people use to spalshes water to each other, i forget why the do so, and i dont really know whether you'll have read such news before, a few americans and other people was playing and enjoying themselves where, someone actually splashes some flour (yes white color powder stuff) which the color is exactly flour but it was some flower extract and well something to do with potion, where the few americans just stunt there all of a sudden dont know what to do, where a few Thai actually took all the money as well as some valueable stuff they have and their passport at the same time. The moment when the realise everything is lost, they went to the american embassy seeking for help, funny case is that they dont know who did that and how they look like, and they dont even know how it happens. Just becareful next time

Always becareful about things that you drink, if the person buy you a drink and if you dont know him at all, reject his offer. Unless the bartender do it infront of you, and you make sure the bartender wasn't on the person's side first of all.

I saw that news report, Rosesbloom, and while I don't recall a lot of details, the gist of it was the stuff doesn't work. I go along with what the others are saying.......go with friends, and watch your drink if at all possible. Any doubts, don't drink it.

I would also like to point out that this guy was playing on the empathy others may have for victims of date rape drugs by telling a story about rape to promote a product that is utterly worthless. Just to make a buck.
