Options for Someone Not Majoring in Criminal Justice???

I'm in my fourth year of college, majoring in Mechanical Engineering with a minor in Business Administration, and I have almost zero interest in any of the jobs in the field. I've always been very interested in Law Enforcement, and I was wondering what the options were for someone with an Engineering degree that isn't interested in an Engineering job. Does not having a criminal justice degree affect my chances of getting a job? What kind of jobs could I get? Are there any internships for people like me? Any help on this subject would be very much appreciated.

It makes not one bit of difference.

Police departments do not care ONE LITTLE BIT what degree you have. Any degree from any accredited institution will be just as good as any other.

You are in good shape to start applying to departments now if you are on track to graduate in the summer (hiring processes can take around six months or longer in some places).

    Welcome aboard and good luck!

Having investigative skills, such as using the search function, would prove more useful. This has been covered many, MANY times.

Then again, an intro wouldn't hurt either.

I was declared EE at UCLA - never finished (long story). If you're in your 4th year, you're probably pretty close to graduating. I would recommend finishing up with ME (or even switching to something else) and getting that piece of paper - even if you don't end up ever using it.
