    Babysitting a plane

We had a fatal small airplane crash in our county yesterday. Twin engine plane lost power and went down hitting tail first and vaulting . The belted pilot hit the yoke pretty hard.

We get a call that they need someone with LE background to keep an eye on it overnight. Seeing no takers from the uniforms , I grabbed it. $20 an hr for 1800-0600 will give me some extra retirement money

It's way back from the road in a dark muddy field. Looks lime its just me.and the cows on duty tonight.

It is a little challenging to post here on my Android But i have another 9.5 hrs to go.

I work an off-duty job at a hotel once a week. it's a ***** staying awake after working all day and only getting 4 hours or so of sleep before I have to be back for the next day's shift, but the $500 or so a month that I make there seems to make it all better.

I don't count on it like some guys do, but the wife and I are aggressively paying down our student loans, so all that money goes to that right now. An added bonus is that even though I'm technically not an employee of the hotel, I get a significant discount at any of their properties. We vacationed in Savannah over the summer for $39/night in a pretty nice hotel.

Those FAA guys take awhile to show up. I usually end up doing most of the work for them. Taking photos, measuring the scene like a fatal vehicle accident, taking notes on all the insturment settings. They'll show up, look around for 15 mins and then leave.
Excuse me Officer, I have a stupid Question. "No problem, I've got a stupid answer for you!"

Is it true that the FAA will only allow a state police agency to be primary on an airplane crash?

I do know that in NYS it is illegal under the general business law for any person to move a part of a crashed plane unless it is attended by a New York State Police trooper or a "regular deputy sheriff", unless the crash is blocking traffic, or as an affirmitive defense, needs to be moved to rescue an injured person.

Re. The NTSB was here all day and will be back tomorrow at 0830. Supposedly , they will be hauling the plane out tomorrow but if they can't get it done, it will have to sit until Tuesday under 24 hr watch.

PSP is not primary in a township where there is local PD. They would not have been called here.
