    Broward county physical requirements

Hi guys!! I'm Dan. I currently work as a mechanic and am looking for a career change. Im 20yrs old and a little out of shape. I'm training to take the physical ability test and was wondering what was involved in the test to train for and if there was any other training I should undergo. Thanks for your help.

    Run a lot.

On a side note...I'm not sure if you are aware but I highly doubt they will be hiring anytime soon, they just laid off a bunch of deputies! Good luck!

    Thanks

Thanks for your input. I know that hollywood is hiring at the moment. Ive been doing mechanic work at the dealer level for 3 years now. Work is just to slow. I need something steady and the auto industry isnt it. I'm not expecting to just walk into a station and be handed a job. I just want to do all that I can the best that I can to improve my chances of getting hired. Any input on how to improve myself for the physical tests or otherwise to improve my chances of getting hired would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys!!

Have you thought about going to different agencies websites and seeing what they say their test is? Florida has a standardized test that most agencies use, and most of the websites can at least give you an idea of what it is. The Physical Ability Test (PAT) is also described in great detail at the FHP website (here). Some agencies make you do more than just the PAT, like I think St. Pete has a swimming test, and another agency (can't remember which) has a CRAZY test that - to me - seems impassable!

Do some due diligence and check the websites. That's why they post that stuff there.
