I am leaning towards a glock 27 it seems to be everyone's favorite. Does anybody carry anything else they would recommend over that?

This is a little like asking what the best ice cream flavor or model of car is. It's a lot about personal preference. I have a baby Glock that I carry off duty, and an H&K, and a Kel-Tec, and a Sig P6. They are all really good guns.
I hate to sound like a broken record, but we have a strict rule here about those who claim to be Law Enforcement Officers. They must get "verified" by the site so that our members and guests can easily determine who is or is not a sworn Law Enforcement Officer. You can look here to find the requirements and procedure for getting that done.
I need you to acknowledge (either in a thread or in a PM to me) that you either:
a.) are a Law Enforcement Officer and are in the process of being verified here or,
b.) are NOT a Law Enforcement Officer, and what you would like us to change your name to.
Thanks for understanding,
-Citicop.

We won't rest 'till we find the mutt.
I have the 27, but recently switched to the Walther PPS as one of my off-duty/plainclothes guns. So far I'm liking it alot.
PS...Don't tell anyone, but it fits perfectly in both my GALCO Concealable and GALCO Ankle Lite Glock 27 holsters.

I absolutely detest the threads where people ask about "the best" this, that or the other. Also, a G27 may be "everybody's favorite" where YOU are from, but realize that:
1- most cops are not gun nuts;
2- a majority only carry whatever the department issues and couldn't care less WHAT it is so long as the PD's paying for it because of rule #1;
3- most think that the same make and caliber backup gun as their primary is the only way to go, because of rule #1.
Of every one hundred men, ten should not even be here. Eighty are nothing but targets. Nine are real fighters, and we are lucky to have them, for they make the battle. Ah, but the One... One of them is a Warrior... He will bring the others back.
"Wrong door, buddy!"
