I don't read westerns. I didn't get any of that from books. I've shot a 1911, it hardly has any recoil.
I think the difference between between a shot payload in a wad, and a shot payload in a wad AND shell casing. The shell casing couldn't be much difference from a full choke. You can shoot shot through a choke without problem. Also, I already knew about the mercury dissolving lead. It doesn't do that instantly though. IN most cases when you plan on using a bullet, you pick it within a day of shooting it. It wouldn't be hard to prepare. And water would work fine as a substitute for mercury. It's not as dense, but going at those speeds, it'd still do the job.

Wouldn't hitting a body do the same thing as filling hp with water?

As for HP, I don't understand why states make the safer rounds illegal.

BTW, they are also illegal in Canada. They have a sign that says you must declare all HP ammo when you cross the border. As well as pistols. They also don't expect honest answer in affirmative. And the border people don't have experience with firearms (they let me show them how to remove the mag and rack the slide) and searched the car. And then they make you go back to the US and return with shipping receipt and no ammunition. Not that I would have driven all the way to Canada and didn't think to check if I could take my pistol.
