    Help / suggestion

I would like to get a revolver but I'm not sure what would be good for someone to start out with. And just to throw something in there, I have small hands, so comfort would play a big part in finding something.

I'd love to hear your suggestions.

    Self-defense or target shooting?
Of every one hundred men, ten should not even be here. Eighty are nothing but targets. Nine are real fighters, and we are lucky to have them, for they make the battle. Ah, but the One... One of them is a Warrior... He will bring the others back.

You'll have to get to a gun shop and get a feel for different makes/models. Here's a decent one to start with. You can choose barrel length and caliber.

What caliber have you been shooting so far?

    The Ruger SP101 Snubnose

OOooooh! Me like! I'll have to ask about that at Benton Shooters the next time I go (it's down the street from my mom's).

I've just been shooting 9mm so far. Today I shot my brother's .380 and have no clue what kind of rounds it takes, or the Makarov that I bought him for his birthday last year (which I hate shooting).

I'm supposed to get together with his Marine buddies and go shooting with them and they all have different guns. Some assault weapons, etc, and they want me to try every one of them. I'm not sure I'm up for all of that yet, but one of their snipers says he'll help me every step of the way. Kind of nervous.

And even though I shot well today, it was probably the worst day I ever had shooting. I couldn't control my breathing or stready my hands for ****. It took a long time to calm down and even longer to keep my hand from shaking. However, I did shoot well, and I get better and better every time I go. That makes me feel pretty damned good.

9mm isn't bad at all. I've got one I carry if I need to reeeeally conceal a gun. Having a revolver that's a .38/.357 combo is probably your best bet. You really have got to get a feel for them in your hand to choose one. So many different style grips and weights to choose from.

Have fun at the gun store!

No problemo. In the meantime, you can check out Guns for Sale and peruse all the revolvers they have there. A good assortment to help start you narrowing down what you may or may not like. For self-defense revolvers, I like the "hammerless" type so it doesn't get hung up on your clothes (or purse in your case) when you try to draw it out.

Excellent site. I was checking out the section for the ladies. I think that's where I need to really look. I can do without the pink guns, as I think they're a little too stupid for me.

    Once again, grazie.

    I appreciate the help.
