I'm no master. If anything I'm like the guy who made the assault vehicle in Tango and Cash. Switch and SgtSlaughter are the guys who go out and kick *** with it.





CandlepowerForums (etal) is where it's at. There are like double and triple stacked propellerhead guys on that website!

I think Switch and Sgt pretty much covered it already. The newest LEDs (multiple unit heads) are starting to encroach on HID territory (1-3 thousand lumen is almost becoming common) and even single LEDs have mindblowing output!

I would also recommend to go to a brick/mortar shop to compare your choices. Mount them on your weapon and see which works better ergonomics-wise and which puts out the beam/pattern/color that you like best. Buy there or save some money and buy online...
