I did not opt for the combat cut but I can see why it may be necessary. When drawing I need to "reposition" my grip because of the extra leather. That being said I have heard of many people creating their own combat cut with an exacto knife. It is not a big enough issue for me to correct it myself but I can understand why some people do it. With the combat cut you would clearly get a more solid, proper grip.

My XD has arrived at the dealer. I will be pickin it up tomorrow. Now the search for a good holster is ON. I will use the Kydex one that comes with it for now. Standby for my review....

Considering the fact that it is free, I can't really complain. Need a holster that will (poorly) secure the weapon to your hip? It works (poorly). That said, I would never wear that holster in public, too easy for somebody to literally rip it off of your side. Only place I ever used that holster was when shooting at my buddies house.

Picked my XD 9 Sub up on Saturday and got to put 200 rounds of Winchester 147 gr Ranger T thru it today. All I can say is incredible. The only thing I might address is a slightly longer, compared to my Glocks, trigger reset. It really is not all that bad and IMHO shoots better than my Glock 27. I am truly impressed with this pistol. Now I need to get me a holster and some spare mags. the gun came with one 13 rd flush and two 16 rd w/ext mags.

All Hi Cap guns and or mags have to be ordered, as NYS has the 10 rd restiction for civillians. Rare nowadays is a dealer that stocks LE guns or hi-cap mags. I contacted the LE distributor that SA gave me and they shipped to a local dealer (ret NYPD) who did the right thing. Had the gun in less than 3 days.

I'm thinking of sending it back to SA for nightsights and some trigger work, before I start carrying it.
