Lets see the guns used in your dept.

In the danish police we use the HK USP compact 9mm as our sidearm. HK mp5 with tactical light for special situations.

I love the mp5, but I do wish we had a better sidearm. Its a great gun, I just prefer the standard HK USP or better still the GLOCK 17 (unfortunately we only use 9mm rounds here in denmark .45 would be better :D)

We HAVE to use this sidearm and no mods are aproved, not even a simple gunlight. :mad:

So what do you guys use. Do you have to buy it yourself or is it issued?

US Coast guard uses the following...

Handgun: Sig Sauer P229 DAK (Some units still have the old Baretta M9s)
Rifle: M16, some units also use the M4
Shotgun: Remington 870 police magnum.

Officer purchase here off a very large approved list.

If someone makes it, somebody here carries it. ;) About the only guns you CANNOT carry are Rugers, HK compacts, Smith/Walther P99's and any EAA or Taurus handguns.

Duty: .40 Beretta PX4.
Off Duty: .45 acp S&W 457. ( Just bought a .45acp M&P, don't know if I'm going to carry that one yet or if it's just going to sit in the safe. )
Backup: S&W Model 640 .357 magnum.

We're only allowed three at any one time or there would be LOTS more. :D

For long guns it's a Bushmaster Ar-15 shorty and Beretta 1201FP shotgun.

Only AR-15 rifles in 5.56 allowed, no full auto or pistol calibers.

Never, but i live in Sweden and work in Denmark. Cars, houses ect are much cheaper in Sweden thats why I moved :D

issued - Sig 229 in .40 -Officers can carry one of their own if on an approved list. (I carry a Glock 22. A couple have HK's, one carries a S&W auto that I know of, lots carry Glocks of various models.)

Patrol rifles - AR-15's (mostly) some MP-5's and UMP's in .40, but they are being phased out for the AR-15's.

Shotguns are NOT issued and CAN NOT be carried.

Back-up/off-duty is a S&W 640 with .357 rounds (for Norm).
