    Beretta PX4 Storm

I'm not a huge Beretta fan but if you can get a PX4 Storm, run out and get it. I had the privilige of owning one for 2 weeks before I had to turn it back in for a full refund. It seems Berreta pre-shipped the PX4 to California prior to it being approved on the CA DOJ list of firearms sales (oops). I bought it from the LAPD gun shop (double oops) a few days after arrival ($450.00). It comes with 3 LE 17rnd mags, built in night sights, cable lock, hard case, and a cool Beretta plastic thingamagiger. I bought an additional 3 mags for $39.00 each (ouch).
Finally got down to the range a week after purchase. My first shot at twenty five yards was in the middle of the ten ring (#8 target). I figured lucky shot. The following 16 rounds downrange, at a slow rate of fire (1 sec), were all in the ten ring. I'm thinking I must be in the groove. Shot all 6 mags with 17rnds each on 6 targets. Last 3 mags practicing double tap chest and 1 head shot to completion. I was amazed at how smooth the gun was the entire time. Very low recoil and extremly comfortable in my giant sized hands. I did put a Hogue grip on it since Beretta has'nt shipped the optional backstraps yet. That was the best range day I have ever had as far as accuracy. Too bad it's not a LASD department approved weapon. I would of got an expert award that day.
Got a call last Tuesday at work from the LAPD (LAPRAC) gun shop. Dispatch said it was urgent regarding a gun purchase. I figured Beretta must of had a recall or something similiar. Called back and spoke witha manager who begged to get the gun back ASAP. Only other option was to get the department to send a letter approving experimental duty use. Lets see, get the Sheriff to sign a letter for one deputy out of 9,000 sworn employees. I think martians would win the Brickyard 500 first before that happened. Returned the gun last Thursday and got a full refund for it and the extra mags. Tried to get the manager to refund the cost of the Hogue grip and Bianchi holster but he was'nt going for that. In fact he was pretty rude about not refunding something that was not a Beretta product. I had to drive 48 miles in Los Angeles traffic one way after 16hrs of duty to return thier mistake and the guy gets rude. Loss of one customer that day.
Back to the gun. It is by far a superior gun for the price. As soon as it is approved in CA for LEO purchase, I'm bying it again. If your state sells it, I suggest you go give it a try. Beretta did GOOD with this one.

Our department has ordered the PX4 Storm to replace our current (and old) Beretta 96 Centurions. We all fired a test model that was sent to our department a couple months ago, and loved it. High cap, very low recoil, comfortable grip, very accurate.

Only problem is this. Apparently, there was a recall on the gun (some minor manufacturing problem), and so now we have to wait even longer for our order to come in. I'll probably post an update when they come in.

Yes, very sleek. I really want to get my hands on the Cx4 Storm carbine. If only I was a rich man, my gun collection would know NO bounds. :D

If you want a rifle get one that shoots rifle calibers. It looks nice but I like the velocity of a rifle.

True on the rifle calibers. Right now we have Ruger .40 rifles for our patrol rifles. I would like to have something in a .223, but that kind of decision is not up to me. As for the Cx4, I just really want to try shooting one, to see how it feels and shoots.

If the Cx4 was in .223 I would have bought one. Otherwise it is a more accurate pistol.

The Storm Carbine is a blast to shoot. True, it's not a .223, but haven't you guys just bought a gun for fun before? It'll never be a duty weapon, no pistol caliber carbines are approved. You have to practically wrestle my neice to get it back.

I'm really looking forward to the pistols, (They have not shown up in my area yet) I'm hearing great things, and I think it's about time to retire the 92. I've been carrying the thing since 88.

"Honey, I need a new duty pistol. This thing is 15 years old":D

I think i've fallen prey to a Beretta obsession. I've bought 3 of their guns in the past two months.

I've tested it out at my local range and it is a sweet shooter. However I am big on the school of thought that if you are buying a rifle, get a rifle caliber.

Beretta firearms are really nice lately. I got a chance to play with a PX4 and it was nice. It made my Christmas list this year.

I wouldn't trade my Storm for anything. I picked one up in the .45 auto and it is extremely accurate and reliable. It's really easy to clean, almost too easy. The only problem I have with it is I am always wiping drool off of it or begging for just one shot!

I would love it if they made one in a .223, but that's what my AR is for. ;)

The PX4 is mean looking. Supposed to be an Excellent little gun. I'm going to shoot one at the range if they get any rentals in just to see how it feels.

    Berreta PX4 Recall Info

During testing of the PX4 useing LE type ammo, jamming occured within the first magazine of fire. This jamming issue was consistant with each magazine change out and gun replacement.
It seems that the feed ramp has a flaw with flat nose and expansive type LEO ammunition.
Some guns also will not fire correctly with an administrative load (1 in the chamber with full magazine).
