I imagine calling them "armed security guards" was just your way of putting them down
    Lady V,

I could really care less if they are armed monkeys..This was not my point in any way.....in no way was disrespect givin to anyone carring a gun for a profession. My point was while this guy wants no one to have firearms he has PEOPLE WHO HAVE GUNS watching over him.

Ok well see what happens when you go out for dinner.. Mmm steak, potatoes, corn, and ribs...ahhh sorry back to topic.

If the new Gov. wanted to banish all guns in the state of illinois that would be a VERY VERY hard task to do. He was also wanting from what I've heard to raise the FOID (Firearms Owner Identification Card) to $50. Now think about it logically for one minute...............ok have you though. If he for some odd reason wanted to do that think about the NRA they would be all over that. And to "banish" guns from illinois that woudl require going to congress and having them ammend the illinois constitution, which i'm thinking wont happen.

I would like to see this law in the city code book. I haven't heard about this and am VERY interested in seeing it. So let me get this straight if you are not a LEO, armed security guard you can't own a gun?

It is in the municipal code of chicago. It doesn't say that you can't own a gun, it says that you can't have it in city limits with some exceptions. I also agree with you on your point about the gov. Good call.

Is this municipal code on the net?? I would like to take a look over it. What are the stipulations on owning a weapon within the city limits?

The municipal code is on the net. The exact chapter is 8-20. Chicago has had a ban on handguns since 1982. Anyone that had a gun before then can still keep theirs but have to re-register every two years. If you are caught with a handgun in Chicago, the gun is confiscated, and you are subject to a $500 fine or 6 months in jail.
