870 Sling problem; need advice and a solution. PLEASE.

Just brought home a new 870 MAX and would greatly appreciate some sling advice. Right now I have a two point adjustable Viking sling on it. Had to put a side swivel at the front and a viking stock gizmo on the rear to make it work. Is this a good patrol setup? What is better? We qualify with our 870s late this month and need to show up with a good setup so I can recieve the armorer's blessings. Thanks in advance for your help.

If you don't mind pm'ing with the $ you paid. I have been looking for a 870 police model for home use, etc.

I heard used one's go for $350, but have been unable to locate any.

Problem partially fixed; I removed the sling all together. I just didnt like it and until I find one I like I wont have one on it at all. I also removed the front swivel which made no sense because it was in front of the surefire. Why Remington didnt make/install a side swivel is the big question. Just found a range in the area thats gonna allow buckshot; here I come....

cdnninvestments.com is selling the P model.

Personally I dont believe its worth the extra money. The standard 870 is a fine shotgun.

They are pricey. I paid a few bucks under what they are going for on the web. From what I understand they are not easy to get/find due to them coming from the LE side of Remington. Went shooting yesterday. Shot about 20 slugs (mostly civy, some LE) and like 40 rounds of buckshot (000 and 00) and then a box of bird shot just to get the feeling of the weapon. Not really sore cuz the new R3 pad really works. It’s very consistent with slugs and the ghost ring is working as advertised. I loved shooting it; almost as fun as my M1 super 90 was. I'd say she passed the ops check.

stay away from loose slings. mine are somewhat tight. i carried an M4 with a really loose sling and i was chasing down some robbers. i was going over 130 mph and trying to get the freakin sling untangled. when i did the takedown, i ended up having to just use my pistol. it was an easy untangle, but when things get going, you just don't have time to be playing around and look to see what it's catching on. just make sure whatever you get is tight.
