I have been thinking about getting a laser for my Glock 17 for plinking and fun, but because it is a 1st gen (no rail), I am pretty limited. There is a pretty good deal on a lasermax on Ebay right now, but I thought I'd ask before I bid on it. Here is what I am unsure about...
1. Generally, how far off is the laser's point of aim from the gun's point of impact?
2. Are these built very well? I mean, like I said, it's just for fun, but I have heard one account of a lasermax switch breaking after some regular use.
As always, any info would be appreciated.

The lasermax lasers work good ( guiderod version of course ) from what I hear. But, DAYUM, they cost more than the gun! Not a feature I would blow that kinda money on ;)

I have heard that they are not as durable as one may like for the price. SOG issued them for a while and some were quite happy with them. I have jsut heard enough from people that they were problematic. Between that and the fact that I think lasers teach poor habits (do a search and you will find several lengthy discussions), I think I will pass.

The Glock guys at Glocktalk say that they turn Glocks into jam-o-matics. Spend the money on ammo and train your butt off. <-- begining to sound like Switchback.
