Any comments on those? I can get the Glocks, I'd just like some input on them.
Also, could anyone recommend a shotgun and a decent 1911? The guy has S&Ws in stock, but I seem to remember they're not that great.
Thanks.

Wilson Combat for the 1911 is my choice.
I am also a Mossberg fan.....need the 590A1 and not the cheap 500 series.
You sure have a wide variety of guns, what is your real preference?
Shotgun...
Benelli M4
http://www.benelliusa.com/firearms/m4.tpl
When the U.S Marine Corps went shopping for a combat shotgun they bought a Benelli.
The super dependable Inertia Driven™ system was a natural choice, but to fully equip a combat shotgun with night-vision scopes and other specialized equipment would add a lot of weight and could compromise the Inertia Driven™ system. To ensure reliability, Benelli engineers developed the ARGO system. With the ARGO system dual stainless steel, self-cleaning pistons mounted just in front of the chamber drive the action. It’s a simple and dependable system that eliminates the complex linkage, springs and heavy parts most other semi-autos depend on.
The M4 comes standard with a Picatinny rail for optics, a ghost ring fully adjustable rear sight and fixed blade front sight; there is also a collapsible stock and extended magazine tube available as accessories.
The M4 is combat proven and U.S. Marine Corps tough;
why would you depend on anything less?
If you're still in mass, all of those glocks will have to be made before 10/21/98 due to the AG, so good luck finding a 3rd gen. Check Four Seasons for glocks, they usually have a decent selection http://fsguns.com/glocks.html . You're gonna be kinda limited on 1911's too, Springfield's, Paraordinance's, Colt's, Baer's, and Kimber's are all out(unless there made prior to 10/21/98.

shotgun: remington 870, I have a g27 and I wish I stayed with the g23 (it is not that much bigger than a g27).
45's, I keep looking at paraordinance. But, my wife says look in the baby section for clothes and toys instead of another gun ;)
I told her, I'm getting a kel-tec p11 as a off-duty weapon and that's final. She gave me "the look", I'm taking that as a yes!
Drive it, Like you stole it!!
If you can swing it, the Remington 870 Police model.
I like the Glock 19/23 size. Big enough for work, but can
be carried off duty if needed.
If you want a 1911 and plan on carrying it a lot,
look at a lite weight one. 10 to 12 oz makes a lot of
difference.
I recently looked at a Colt LW Commander.
But I dont have the 900.00 the FFL wants for it.

IMO Springfield is your best bang for your buck in a 1911. For the shotgun I'd go with the 870, great reputation and endless modifications and accessories available.

Benelli's out, at least with a collapsible stock. I fired one in the Marines, it was sweet. I hear there is some Winchester that's a cool defensive shotgun. Don't know anymore than that.
Can anyome recommend a good Mass-legal 1911?
fsguns has a whole page listing great guns, with notes saying "and you can't buy them here!"
Our gun laws are beyond petty.

Well, I'm definitely getting the 26, and then either the 21 or the 19, not both. I have never held a 21, so I need to check it out. I understand it has a pretty big grip. I have largish hands, but who knows.Originally Posted by rdp

Go with the 870 in a pump, though the Winchester is good too. Benelli or the Remington 1100 police in a semi. I'd stay away from the Mossberg. You can have either of the above pumps for close to the same price.

Smith & Wesson make a whole line of awesome 1911's. I know one guy(former USMC, now AFR) who has one and loves it, and I know a kid who is at the top of the list for his age bracket in IDPA and IPSC who also highly recomends S&W's 1911s. Although I have heard that the 1911PD's(which were called the 1911SC) aren't mass compliant, because when they switched the name, they didn't send the atty general 5 more pistols for testing. :rolleyes:Originally Posted by massgrunt

I've also heard a rumor that the atty general is considering doing a thing with ammo similar to the 1998 Gun Control Act. That, combined with the bs politics here, is why I am getting out to a free state after college(Virginia is lookin nice).Originally Posted by massgrunt
