    duty weapon

I am currently receivibg my level 3 commission in private security and will be in need of a duty weapon. I have been looking at the Glock 22 and the Sig 226 .40S&W. Which in your opinion is the better weapon. Any comments or suggestions would be greatly welcome.

Buy which ever one is cheaper. There isn't a lick of difference between them quality wise.
Don't try and outweird me, I find weirder things than you in my breakfast burrito.

This question has been asked here about a zillion (give or take) times. Read thru the firearms threads.

Weapons selection is subjective. As long as you stay away from Rossi's, Stars, etc. you will be fine.

Nothing Good Can Come From This

That's like going to a truck forum and asking which is better, Chevy or Ford?

Totally preference. Get some time behind both and see which one you like better.

Why just look at the Sig and the Glock? There are alot of other choices out there. It is like you are going to buy a car and only look at chrysler and chevy. This isn't the Soviet Union, there are many, many choices out there, don't limit yourself to 2.

I was in your shoes about 12 years ago when I got out of the military. The only handguns that I had ever shot were the 9mm M9 Beretta and the .45cal M1911 and with the Dept. I started with, those were not an option.
I hunted down a gun store that had a range in it, ponied up some bucks for ammo and rent fees and shot till I could shoot no more.

That would be my advice to you....

How much cash do you have? The Sig will run you about $200 more than the Glock.

If you are thinking of a Sig in 40 caliber, instead of the 226, go with the 229. The 229 is slightly smaller and easier to conceal but doesn't lose any accuracy and is still a good handful of gun.

Sigs have a few more points in the accuracy department, but Glocks are generally reported to be more reliable. Both are premier firearms companies with well-earned reputations, so you will be very well-equipped either way. I agree with Swat1, you should see which one feels and points best for you.
