I'd go with the Sig, followed by the Glock in second, and HK in third, HKs are exspensive as hell aren't they?

Dan, do you have experience with these guns?

Remember those who died, remember those who killed them.
Shot the G31(think that was the #) and the sig(don't remember any of their modle numbers) a long time ago, never shot the HKs but heard the were real exspensive

I've never shot HK's(would like to but haven't got the opportunity yet). Shot enough glocks and sigs to say that I prefer the sig. This is just my own personal opinion of course... I don't like the balance of the glock when it shoots nor the boxy feel it has.
hopefully I dont start a rant

Although I have never shot any of those guns in .357...I have shot them in higher calibers. (sp)
If I were a police officer...
1. Glock
2. Sig
3. H&K
It is very close, very close between Glock and Sig. I guess reputation really plays a big one here. I like them all though.
But personal preference....
1. Sig
2. Glock
3. H&K
I carry a sig which can be converted from the .40 to a .357, but haven't investigated the conversion yet.
I have an HK .40cal USP full-size. Other than some jams when it was first breaking in, it shoots great. The double-action trigger pull for the first shot is a little longer than I care for, but I've gotten used to it. It's a little pricey, if you don't want to spend the money go with a Glock, either a 21 (.45 Auto) or 22 (.40cal), or a Sig.

I don't like the .357 round, its nothen but a 9mm on steriods.
Having said that I carry a H&K USP .40 on duty, however I just switched to a Glock 21 .45 :D

To be honest I've owned all of those models. You're best bet is to go to the range and see if you can rent them. HK trigger is tough to control for me. Its a really nice looking and performing gun but you'll have to practice with that first DA pull. Glock of course has the same trig pull everytime you press that trigger. So its easier to control and be accurate. No decocker, etc... The SIG P229 has a better trigger but again, you have to train with that first DA pull. I think its more smoother than the HK. Go out and try them. It will be a fun experience.
My choices would be:
1 - Glock 32 (357)
2 - Sig P229 (in .357sig)
3 - HK Compact USP (in .357sig)
Carry round would be Winchester Ranger T in 125gr. or Gold Dot in 125gr.

I have shot all three, specifically, the H&K USP .40, the SIG P229 .40, and the Glock 22 .40. All are well made, all will deliver relevant to the shooters ability. Ergonomics will play a large factor in choosing a handgun, particularly for duty carry. In MHO, price should not be an option to a person who is purchasing a handgun for duty carry. What he/she should be concerned about is how it fits the hand, how the sight picture looks, etc. That gun will play a large part of a LEO's career. The selection should be made wisely. Besides, a weapon like that will last better than a lifetime.

SIG all the way!
For me it just fits better and the followthrough is smooth. I've recently fallen for the SP2340 *grrr* dead on gun and I haven't had any malfunctions.
I've tried S&W, Beretta, and Glock and they just don't feel as smooth ... I haven't personally tried the H&K yet but a friend of mine (die hard H&K fan) wants me to try his USP.
I prefer the Glock. I feel it is the best value of the three and I like the consistent trigger. Glock triggers take getting used to but I prefer them over transitioning from DA to SA. I would hate to have to shoot a DA only pistol. The Glock also has IMO the best assortment of available accessories such as lights and holsters.
The Sig is a great gun, but just does not "feel" right to me. The HK is Perfect, and the Glock also feels good, but I am a Beretta man.
