BPD does not issue Glocks. If you go with the issue firearm you get the Beretta du Jour, either a 92d or a 9mm cougar/8000. Officers may carry any double action semi-auto, at their own expense, made by Glock, Sig, S+W, Browning, Colt (with the ever-elusive seecamp conversion), Beretta, H+K, or Walther. Rumor has it the Springfield is pending. Barrel length must be 5.5" or less. They must qualify with their weapon of choice each year. It must be in one of the following calibers:9mm, .40, or .45auto.

For Norm any 4" barrel Ruger, S+W, or Colt revolver chambered in .38, .357 (must carry .38's though), .44spl, .44MAG (not required to carry .44spl -go figure), or 45long colt.

Shotguns are 870 pumps. Duty/Patrol rifle (the trunk queen) is a Bushmaster BCWA2F-16 sounds fancy but it is just an ar with a collapsible stock and a 16 inch barrel. You must pass a 'special' class to obtain the glory of toting one of these around in your trunk.

Tactical unit and Narcotics unit can use anything they can show a need for. yes they have p90's at least narcotics does.

There is NO Kansas State Police.
The information you have there is for Kansas Highway Patrol Troopers
assigned to the Kansas Turnpike Authority.
This information may or may not be correct.

Regular troopers are getting new Glock 21 in 45 acp.
This is what they currently carry.
They have Remington Police Magnum shotguns in 12 guage.
They are also issued Ruger Mini 14s in 5.56

Please know that Texas does not have state police. Texas has State Troopers. Its a Texas thing that dates back to just after the War Between the States. So please change the term to either Texas State Troopers or Texas Highway Patrol

Thanks, I already heard about that. Perhaps you can help me with the long arms issued by the Cincinnati PD? Any other handguns issued? What handgun was issued before the 5946? I am not only interested in current issue, but also very much in all historical information. Thanks!
