Don't put your eggs in one basket.
And think about this....with all the hiring the FBI has done in the last 5 years....and the lack of retirement from there......just why do you think the number of agents on the jobs remains the same. Why are there so many folks leaving (not retiring) that they have to hire to fill their slots?-In God we trust. All others, put your hands on the car and don't move.

I can't offer much help with the Bureau (my grandfather is retired USSS and brainwashed me with anti-FBI propaganda my entire life), but I will say without knowing what critical skill you offer it's difficult to advise you further, other than just to review the info provided on FBIJobs.gov.

It never hurts to apply. I will say this though, the word going around is that hiring is so tight right now, that the only folks really getting in are Veterans (due to the added Veteran's Preference breaking them out of the pack). That being said, (if you meet the requirements) put in - the worst that can happen is you don't get picked up this time and you try again later.
