portions of the us code enforced by usms?

Anyone on here know which sections of the US code the marshals enforce? I think, eg, that CBP does title 8 and title 19 and can be designated for title 21; DEA does title 21; I think every fed does title 18. Do the marshals have any particular titles they are assigned to enforce, or just title 18?

US Marshals Services is not an agency that specializes in one particular area of investigations, like ATF with guns/explosives, DEA with drugs, or ICE with immigration and customs. USMS serves the federal courts, and has investigative jurisdiction over federal fugitives. As such, they can enforce any federal criminal statute, not just Title 18. I've seen and worked with USMS fugitive squads enforcing warrants on Title 18, Title 21, and a multitude of others.

In addition to what Kimble mentioned, we do have quite a bit of authority under title 28, dealing with judicial security/protection/administration.

We've also started work on Adam Walsh Act cases recently as well. As areas of investigations go, it's one of the only areas other than warrants that we work from beginning to end.

I see someone hasn't had their hug today... don't worry, Big, I was only speaking in generalities (though clearly ICE does still specialize in immigration and customs investigations). I've worked enough cases with ICE/HSI (or whatever the new name of the month is today ) to know how broad their investigative scope is, not trying to short-change ya, bro!

    We do it all.

...not to mention, we are the only feds that can just go "freelancing". I don't know anyone else that can have another cop/agent walk up to them and say, "Hey, do you want to go arrest this guy?" and then go out there and just do it... no UFAP, no requests for permission or letters of authority, etc.

That is the number one reason I have contacted USMS in the past to snap up somebody on a felony warrant . The FBI seems to be more encumbered by the requirement to contact an Assistant United States Attorney to get the UFAP after you fax copies of the warrant, etc.
